Blue Note Records Celebrates 80th Anniversary In 2019
80 years ago on January 6, 1939, a German immigrant and passionate Jazz fan named Alfred Lion produced his first recording session in New York City with two Boogie Woogie pianists, founding what would become the most-respected and longest-running Jazz label in the world. Blue Note Records has gone on to represent The Finest In Jazz, tracing the entire history of the music from Hot Jazz, Boogie Woogie, and Swing, through Bebop, Hard Bop, Post-Bop, Soul Jazz, Avant-Garde, and Fusion, and-after being relaunched by Bruce Lundvall in 1984-has remained the leading label dedicated to documenting today's vibrant and creatively thriving Jazz scene under the leadership of current President Don Was, who took the helm in 2012.
Chicago's Blues/Soul/Rockabilly Band THE CLAUDETTES Unveil Exclusive Live In Studio Video for '24/5'
Described by 'New City' as 'Chicago's own neo-vaudeville Barnstormers!', The Claudettes fuse Chicago piano blues with the full-throttle energy of rockabilly and punk and the sultriness of '60s soul. Featuring Johnny Iguana, who mashes the piano, alongside singer Berit Ulseth, bassist/singer Zach Verdoorn, and drummer Matt Torre, the band just recorded their forthcoming album with producer Mark Neill (Black Keys, Paladins, Old 97's), which is scheduled for release in March 2018. Prior to the release, The Claudettes are proud to unveil three exclusive in studio videos for new songs that will not be on the forthcoming album. The first of the videos is for the song '24/5'.
