Alano Prophet Baez was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico and raised in East Harlem and the South Bronx in New York City. He is a community activist, poet/singer/MC/graffiti writer and actor. Alano has released several independent (anti-corporate) music albums, published a book of poetry, and his work has been featured in a few books and magazines as well. He is also the star of a feature film, Machetero. He currently teaches “resistance writing” to those identified as the homeless with the Homeless Organizing Academy in the South Bronx section of New York City. Don't Take Me Alive! is his first play.
