COT's Epic MOBY DICK Sets Sail April 25
Chicago Opera Theater (COT) caps its 2018/2019 season with the Chicago premiere of "Moby-Dick," an epic adaptation of Herman Melville's 1851 classic "Moby-Dick; or, The Whale" at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance (205 E. Randolph Street) Thursday, April 25 and Sunday, April 28.
Chicago Opera Theater's Board Of Directors Announces Ashley Magnus New General Director
Chicago Opera Theater's (COT) Board of Directors today announces the promotion of Ashley Magnus to the role of Stefan Edlis and Gael Neeson General Director. Previously the company's General Manager of Strategy and Development, Magnus will join Orli and Bill Staley Music Director Lidiya Yankovskaya at the helm, making COT one of few multimillion-dollar opera companies led by women at both the board and executive level. Magnus assumes her new role immediately.
Chicago Opera Theater Presents Tchaikovsky's IOLANTA In Season-Opening Performances
Chicago Opera Theater (COT) will kick off the 2018/2019 season with "Iolanta," a Chicago premiere of legendary composer P.I. Tchaikovsky's final opera. Internationally renowned and award-winning conductor Lidiya Yankovskaya will make her conducting debut as Chicago Opera Theater's Staley Music Director and set the tone for the season to come. Acclaimed stage director Paul Curran, known for his work at Santa Fe Opera, Lyric Opera Chicago and more, will shape the retelling of this joyous love-story, featuring an almost entirely Chicago-based cast including soprano Katherine Weber as Iolanta, and renowned Russian bass Mikhail Svetlov as Rene. The opening night and press performance takes place on Saturday, November 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the historic Studebaker Theater (410 S. Michigan Ave.) Additional performances will take place Thursday, November 15 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 18 at 3 p.m.

Chicago Opera Theater presents CPS Student Performances 6/15
Chicago Opera Theater (COT) announces its first ever city-wide education performance, "Growing Together," featuring student-written performances from Chicago-area schools. COT's education program, Opera for All, is now in its seventeenth year bringing teaching artists into Chicago Public Schools to educate students about classical music, singing and opera. On June 15, nine classrooms and more than 400 students from schools around the city-including Chase Elementary, Reilly Elementary, McAuliffe Elementary, Eugene Field Elementary, Disney II Magnet Elementary School, Healy Elementary, Whistler Elementary School and Langford Community Academy-conclude the school year with a performance of student-written original songs, dances and scenes. Chicago Opera Theater Announces 2017/2018 Season
Today, from the Robert Morris State Street Gallery, Chicago Opera Theater (COT) announced plans for the 2017/2018 season, including a modern opera, a world-premiere co-production from a Pulitzer Prize-winning duo and a groundbreaking double-bill. At the announcement, Andreas Mitisek, COT's Stefan Edlis & Gael Neeson Artistic Director together with Douglas Clayton, COT's Executive Director, detailed the intriguing season with all productions staged at the historic Studebaker Theater (410 S. Michigan).
