Review: THE TAMING OF THE SHREW at CLASSICAL THEATRE COMPANY
I don’t think you are going to find a funnier TAMING OF THE SHREW easily. Director Dana Bowman has lucked out to get the cast and crew that could pull this off, and she had extreme insight into how to handle the problems the show represents to women today. You will laugh, and you will find it a delight. Sitting through TAMING OF THE SHREW was never a chore, and I was enchanted from start to finish.

Hall served as Production Stage Manager for several Broadway shows, beginning with Beyond the Fringe in 1962. Other notable productions include Promises, Promises; Private Lives; The Misanthrope; Sweeney Todd; Camelot; Much Ado About Nothing; Cyrano de Bergerac; Chess; Damn Yankees; and many more.

Vocalist Kyra Gordon with Pianist and arranger Larry Steelman bring hypnotic and far-out arrangements of two iconic singers: Janis Ian and Janis Joplin. In "Loving Janis" the stylistic interpretations of both Janis Joplin and Janis Ian will encompass jazz, rock and folk arrangements of the iconic performers. Epic song classics including "At Seventeen"; "Jesse"; "Piece of My Heart"; "Bobby McGee" and others will be joyfully sung in a heartfelt tribute by singer-songwriter Kyra Gordon.

Based on Louise Fitzhugh's classic written in 1964, the play tells the story of curious and intelligent Harriet M. Welsch, an 11-year-old determined to become a writer - who gets herself into a fair amount of mischief! Main Street's production is set in the 70's with super fun costumes and music.

The latest chapter in their association involves the recording, at Berkeley's Fantasy Studios in February of this year, of 'Jeff Denson Trio + Lee Konitz,' with pianist Dan Zemelman and drummer Jon Arkin. Scheduled for release by Denson's Ridgeway Records today, July 7, the CD explores new music, offers fresh takes on seldom-played compositions of the Lennie Tristano School, and features scat singing by Konitz and Denson.

THE FOREIGNER takes places in a cozy fishing lodge in rural Tilghman County, Georgia. There we meet two Englishmen Froggy and Charlie. Staff Sergeant Froggy has come to do some official military business near the area and forced his friend Charlie to join for a change of scenery. Plagued by marital problems back home across the pond, Charlie is insistent that he cannot provide good company to the other guests of the lodge and will be seen as rude when all he craves is some peace and quiet instead of social interaction. The problem is solved when Froggy concocts the idea of telling everyone that Charlie is an exotic foreigner who doesn't understand English. Comedic madness ensues as the 'foreigner' Charlie becomes privy to the deepest secrets and scandals of everyone as they begin to speak freely in front of him.
