Dames hosts a birthday celebration / release party for his debut CD 'Left Alone' - A Billie Holiday & Mal Waldron Composition on Monday, October 28th at Shell's Bistro in Harlem. Dames, a CityCollege graduate who has appeared at the Lenox Lounge, Jazzmobile and Stage 72 aka Triad Theater, will be joined by Danny Mixon (piano), RaDu Ben Judah (bass) Marvin Horne (guitar) and G. Earl Grice (drums) for sets at 7:30pm & 9:30pm.

Cornelia Street Cafe presents the Mat Maneri Trio featuring Mat Maneri, viola, Ed Schuller, bass and Randy Peterson, drums. This concert will be the 20 year anniversary of this contrapuntal trio who will be playing a collection of music from their past 3 recordings as well as new material. The trio have worked together over the years to try and push the boundaries of what a jazz trio can be, incorporating fresh ways of interpreting modern classical, swing and other forms of music.

Having learned his craft, with help from Ornette Coleman and Lonnie Hillyer, trumpeter John Marshall went on to work with a succession of big bands led by Buddy Rich, Mel Lewis, Lionel Hampton, Al Porcino, Gerry Mulligan and Dizzy Gillespie.

The July 2010 National Jazz Museum in Harlem schedule puts particular focus on the visual side of the jazz genre, as we feature classic films in our Jazz for Curious Listeners series (inaugurating a new collaboration with The Maysles Institute), interview one of the premier jazz photographers in the nation, Frank Stewart, for our flagship Harlem Speaks public program, and screen a rare film of 'The High Priestess of Soul,' Nina Simone.
