ODE TO PASSION Premieres at Queens World Film Festival

Longtime New York commercial and short film director Jack Danini has finished his first feature film, an energetic, broadly appealing, Broadway-inspired musical called ODE TO PASSION. The film will have its world premiere at the Queens World Film Festival Saturday, March 21 at 4:45PM at the state-of-the-art Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI) Redstone Theater, located at 36-01 35 Ave, Astoria, NY 11106 (718 777 6888) in Queens. Phoenix Theatre Ensemble to Open Three-Show Winter Rep

Phoenix Theatre Ensemble (PTE) announces that its winter rep will run from January 21 through February 14 with the world premiere of Glyn Maxwell's The Gambler based on the novella by Dostoevsky, and David Greig's dynamic version of Strindberg's Creditors, and a late-night production of Al Pagano's Filibusted, an irreverent view of the current US political mileau. All performances will be at the Wild Project @ 195 East 3rd Street in the East Village.

The Butterfly - adapted from Patricia Polacco's book of the same name by Charles Greenberg (Music) and Barbara Zinn Krieger (Book & Lyrics) and directed by David Schechter - will be presented by Making Books Sing, the New York-based company dedicated to turning culturally and historically significant books for young readers into musical works for the stage, with performances in the Bronx at the Lovinger Theatre at Lehman College from January 28 to February 1; in Brooklyn at the Goldstein Theatre at Kingsborough Community College from February 4 to 8; in Manhattan at Symphony Space from February 9 to 12; and in Queens at Laguardia Performing Arts Center at Laguardia Community College from February 14 to 15.
