Juilliard has detailed the full programming for its 2024-25 season, with more than 800 live music, dance, and drama performances at the school and beyond. The 2024-25 academic year and performance season offer a wealth of new music, world premieres, and new festivals that bring students, guest artists, and artistic leaders together from different disciplines.

There are great depths here, and great wisdom, and Playwright Ellen McLoughlin’s handiwork and that of Chesapeake Shakespeare convey them well. It is good to see a Shakespeare-oriented theater applying its tools and insights to other material from time to time, particularly classical material that is not often produced in these parts.

Interview: Playwright Will Power Reveals the Inner Workings of FETCH CLAY, MAKE MAN
Will Power’s Fetch Clay, Make Man (a co-production of Center Theatre Group and The SpringHill Company) will open June 18, 2023, at the Kirk Douglas Theatre. Debbie Allen, in her CTG directorial debut, directs this account of the unlikely (but real life) friendship between the great Cassius Clay and the controversial Stepin Fetchit; with the cast of Ray Fisher, Edwin Lee Gibson, Wilkie Ferguson II, Alexis Floyd and Bruce Nozick. I managed to spar with Will over a few behind-the-scenes queries.
