Young People's Chorus of NYC Recognizes Holocaust Remembrance Day with Special Presentation of BRUNDIBAR

In recognition of Holocaust Remembrance Day, The Young People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC) will perform the historic and poignant children’s opera, “Brundibár” at The Museum of Jewish Heritage on Sunday, January 29 at 3 p.m. The performance will feature a cast of 40 choristers and a 13-piece orchestra, conducted by YPC Associate Conductor Sophia Papoulis, with direction by Eric Einhorn of On Site Opera and costumes by Beth Goldenberg.

The students of the 2022 Opera Unlimited Summer Opera Camp will present full-staged and costumed productions of two operettas, Hans Kràsa's Brundibár, and Gilbert & Sullivan's Trial by Jury, on July 8 and 9, 2022, 7:00pm, at the Sandia Presbyterian Church on Paseo del Norte in Albuquerque.

Members of the Santa Barbara Youth Symphony will take part in a fully staged production of Brundibar, Jewish Czech composer Hans Krasa's uniquely affecting children's opera, at the Libbey Bowl in Ojai on Saturday, May 13, and at the Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara on Saturday, May 20.

The Santa Barbara Youth Opera, in collaboration with Ojai Youth Opera and the Santa Barbara Youth Symphony, will present a fully staged production of Brundibar, Jewish Czech composer Hans Krasa's uniquely affecting children's opera, at the Lobero Theatre on Saturday, May 20. Performances will take place at 2:30 and 5 pm. Tickets cost $22 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under.

The children's opera Brundibar was the most popular cultural activity and a powerful symbol
of hope when performed by the Jewish people imprisoned in the Terezin Ghetto (Theresienstadt), in Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia.
On August 14, the opera will be performed for the first time ever in Sydney, with a production at City Recital Hall which aims to introduce Sydney children to the joys of performing and experiencing opera, as well as introducing them to the lessons of the Holocaust.

There are few things that speak to the resilience and hopefulness of mankind more than the history of Brundibar, currently being performed at the Central Square Theatre. It is an opera for children (which is ambitious in itself), but it was created by Jewish artists and performed in the Terezin concentration camps, in spite of all of the horror and pain being inflicted.
TCG Releases Revised, Complete Edition of ANGELS IN AMERICA

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) has announced the publication of a Revised and Complete Edition of Angels in America by Tony Kushner. Available in both paperback and hardcover, this new edition contains both Part One: Millennium Approaches and Part Two: Perestroika in the revised versions that were performed in the 2010 Off-Broadway revival, as well as a new author's introduction.
