BIO

Adé Chiké born in Brooklyn, NY began studying dance at the age of 6. Inspired by his older brother to take up dancing, his mother enrolled him in classes at the Restoration Dance Theater where he was introduced to West African, Tap & Afro-Caribbean dance. While there he had the opportunity to join “The Young Hoofers” which was a tap troupe consisting of his two brothers & four other young men. While with the Hoofers Adé Chiké was fortunate enough to study under the tutelage of Buster Brown, Jimmy Slyde, Savion Glover & Gregory Hines. Adé Chiké continued to hone his skills & was later accepted into Fiorello H. LaGuardia High school also known as “The Fame School”.. During his Junior year he was accepted into the Alvin Ailey School with a full scholarship. Upon graduation he was accepted to The Boston Conservatory. While there he had the opportunity to perform in various classical works.


In 2010 Adé Chiké auditioned for FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance and was chosen as one of their “Top 11” during SYTYCD’s seventh season. He fought his way through the competition and went on to secure a spot in the Top 4. Since then he has had the opportunity of performing on Saturday Night Live, The Ellen Show & Dancing With The Stars. He recently made his Broadway debut in the Tony Award Winning Musical “Fela!” & has been a featured special guest with the iconic troupe; “The Blue Man Group.” He’s also had the pleasure of working with recording artists; Nicki Minaj, Queen Latifah, Katherine McPhee, Natasha Bedingfield & Jennifer Hudson. His talents have taken him to various parts of the world such as, South Africa, Belarus & The Netherlands. Most recently he worked on Season 2 of the NBC hit musical SMASH as well as the feature film Something Whispered, starring Cuba Gooding Jr.

HBO Max Acquires Exclusive Streaming Rights to DAVID MAKES MAN

Season One of OWN and Warner Horizon Scripted Television's Peabody Award-winning series DAVID MAKES MAN, a one-hour lyrical drama created by Academy Award®-winning screenwriter and Tony Award-nominated playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney (“Moonlight”), will be available to stream on HBO Max starting July 16.

 OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced today that its anticipated new drama series “David Makes Man” from Academy Award winner Tarell Alvin McCraney (“Moonlight”) and Warner Horizon Scripted Television will premiere on Wednesday, August 14 at 10 p.m. ETPT following the network's critically acclaimed drama “Queen Sugar” (Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ETPT).  The series premiere will be presented by Lexus with limited commercial interruption.

OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced today the world premiere of its highly anticipated new drama series, “David Makes Man,” from Academy Award winner Tarell Alvin McCraney (“Moonlight”) and Warner Horizon Scripted Television at the 2019 SXSW Film Festival as an Official Episodic Selection, with the screening and panel Q&A taking place on Sunday, March 10 at 5:30pm CT. McCraney serves as executive producer of the series alongside Dee Harris-Lawrence (“Shots Fired,” “Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G.”) who serves as showrunner. Mike Kelley and Melissa Loy (“Revenge,”) under their Page Fright production banner, Michael B. Jordan (“Creed”) via his Outlier Society Productions and Oprah Winfrey are also executive producers.

Lela Rochon (“Training Day”), Trace Lysette (“Transparent”), Liza Colon-Zayas (“Proven Innocent”), Juanita Jennings (“Star”), Lindsey Blackwell (“Step Sisters”), Solomon Valdez (“[Bi]Polar”), Teshi Thomas (“The Good Place,” “Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance”), Nick Creegan, Kimaya Naomi and Logan Rozos have joined the series.

McCraney wrote the coming-of-age drama and will serve as executive producer alongside Mike Kelley & Melissa Loy (Revenge), Michael B. Jordan (Creed) and Oprah Winfrey. Dee Harris-Lawrence (Shots Fired, Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G.) has been named showrunner and will also join the executive producer team. Production will begin on the drama this summer in Orlando, Florida, for a 2019 premiere.
