Adam Souza

Adam Souza joined Boston Conservatory at Berklee in 2020 as a repertoire coach and an associate professor of musical theater.

Souza has worked on Broadway, various North American tours, and internationally as a conductor, music director, musician, arranger, vocal coach, and music supervisor. Broadway and touring productions include Les Misérables (national tour), Spamalot (national tour), and Kinky Boots (Broadway and national tour). Souza was the original music director and conductor for the second national tour of Wicked, later acting as associate music supervisor for the North American tours. He also acted as associate music supervisor for the mounting of the Spanish translation of Wicked in Mexico City, Mexico, and the Portuguese translation in São Paolo, Brazil.

When not touring, Souza has worked regionally at Goodspeed Musicals, Theaterworks Hartford, Riverside Theatre, and North Shore Music Theatre. He served as music director and conductor for Julie Andrews’s new musical, The Great American Musical (Goodspeed Musicals), served as dance arranger for Stephen Schwartz and Charles Strouse’s new production of Rags (Goodspeed Musicals), and as music director/conductor for Duncan Sheik’s new musical, Because of Winn Dixie (Goodspeed Musicals). Souza is associate artistic director of Destination Broadway and is on faculty for Goodspeed Musicals’ education outreach department. He has also coproduced many benefit concerts across the country for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids and other not for profit organizations.

Souza attended Boston Conservatory as a musical theater major. He currently resides in East Haddam, Connecticut, where he serves as resident music director for Goodspeed Musicals.
