Abdul Latif Creates World Premiere For Ashley Bouder Project At The Joyce
Abdul Latif, known for his urban contemporary dance aesthetic and juxtaposed movement, will present the world premiere of Alas, with The Ashley Bouder Project, as part of the Joyce Ballet Festival, July 2-5. As part of a program dedicated to promoting diversity within the performing arts world, Latif joins Lauren Lovette, Liz Gerring, and Annabelle Lopez-Ochoa, to create new works on Bouder's ensemble.
The Joyce's Popular BALLET FESTIVAL Returns
The Joyce Theater Foundation (Linda Shelton, Executive Director) is thrilled to present the return of its highly anticipated Ballet Festival, a two-week showcase of some of America's most exciting contemporary ballet companies and choreographers with Joyce commissions on each program. The Festival, designed to recognize dancers and choreographers who are creating work outside the traditional large company setting - and, in many cases, forming their own companies - will take place from June 26 - July 7 at The Joyce Theater. This year's festival, supported by an endowment established with major support from the Rudolf Nureyev Dance Foundation, features the Joyce debuts of Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami and Barak Ballet, as well as the anticipated returns of Joshua Beamish/MOVETHECOMPANY, BalletX, and Ashley Bouder Project. Josh Prince's Broadway Dance Lab Launches Today
Broadway Dance Lab (BDL), a choreographic incubator supporting new works of dance-driven theatre, has announced that Brook Wendle (Paramour, Gossip Girl), Caleb Teicher (Dance Magazine's 25 to Watch ), Abdul Latif (Lincoln Center Institute artist-in-residence), and Katie Rose McLaughlin (Designated Movement Company), will join artistic director Josh Prince as choreographers for the company's Fall 2017 Cycle. The Lab is set to begin on Oct. 30, and will run through Dec. 15.
