Aaron Wright Joins The Southbank Centre as Head of Performance and Dance
Aaron Wright has been appointed Head of Performance and Dance at the Southbank Centre to lead its performance arts programme including dance, theatre, comedy and live art. Currently Artistic Director at Fierce in Birmingham, Aaron will join the Southbank Centre's Artistic Programming team in April and will report to Mark Ball, Artistic Director.
Lineup Announced For Fierce 25th Anniversary Festival In October
Fierce, the Birmingham biennial festival of international performance, has announced the programme for 2022 - it marks the biggest programme ever for Fierce, celebrating the Festival's 25th anniversary. The programme welcomes international artists from Tokyo to Rio de Janiro as well as from the West Midlands. It embraces the outlandish and the new, presenting over 20 fresh and feisty productions of the kind that the Festival has become acclaimed for.
Selina Thompson To Receive The Second Forced Entertainment Award
Forced Entertainment have announced artist and performer Selina Thompson as the second recipient of the Forced Entertainment Award (in memory of Huw Chadbourn). Created in 2018, the award will recognise one artist (or company) a year until 2021 and comprises £10,000 closely linked to a substantial package of mentoring and subsidiary support tailored each time to the needs and situation of the selected artist or group. The recipient of the 2018 inaugural award was Glasgow-based artist Nic Green.
The Yard Announces FIERCE VS. THE YARD
In October The Yard welcomes two weeks of double bills featuring live performance company GETINTHEBACKOFTHEAVAN'S (Soho Theatre, Almeida) apocalyptic Frankenshow, and the UK debut of American cabaret star Erin Markey's sensual late-night show Boner Killer. Fierce vs. The Yard is a collaboration with the acclaimed Birmingham-based international festival of cross-art performance Fierce Festival, and marks Artistic Director Aaron Wright's inaugural programme at Fierce as well as the first time the festival brings work to London.

Burning Coal Theatre Company presents The Wiz by William F. Brown and Charlie Smalls, directed by Randolph Curtis Rand at The Murphey School Auditorium (224 Polk Street, Raleigh, NC 27604) Thursdays through Saturdays December 3rd-5th, 10th-12th, and 17th-19st at 7:30 pm and Saturdays and Sundays December 5th-6th, 12th- 13th, and 19th- 20th at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $25 for general admission, $20 for seniors (65+), and $15 for students, teachers or active military.
