Utah Symphony And Music Director Thierry Fischer Extend Partnership Through 2022-23
Utah Symphony | Utah Opera (USUO) announced today that Thierry Fischer will extend his contract as Utah Symphony Music Director through August 2023. In May 2019, Fischer had announced his plans to conclude his tenure at the end of the 2021-22 season. This extension adds one year to his role as Music Director, and will run concurrently with his Music Directorship of the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra (OSESP), which he took up in March of this year.

Mr. Brosvik succeeds Patricia A. Richards, who has served as Interim President & CEO since September 2019.

Richards today announced the Utah Symphony's 2020-21 season, sponsored by the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation, with highlights including a cycle of all five Beethoven piano concertos featuring world-renowned pianists in celebration of the composer's 250th birthday. American composer Arlene Sierra will be the Utah Symphony's 2020a?"21 Composer-in-Association, and in addition to having several works premiered or given their first U.S. performances by the orchestra, she will travel to Salt Lake City to engage with the community as an ambassador for contemporary music.
