The McCallum Theatre presents BRAVO Amici on Monday, March 11, at 7:00pm. BRAVO Amici is presented as part of the McCallum Theatre's Mitch's Picks series. From the creators of the world's first opera band, Amici Forever, comes BRAVO Amici, which includes founder and original cast member Geoff Sewell. BRAVO Amici's mix of handsome tenors and stunning divas perform an uplifting, moving collection of well-known classical and contemporary songs.
Combining the essential elements of pop, Broadway, the West End, and opera, BRAVO Amici is a sublime example of the much loved "classical crossover" musical genre. With fans ranging from Sir Elton John to members of royalty, these acclaimed stars have sold more than 3.5 million albums and have audiences around the world, from London to Los Angeles, Miami to Moscow, St. Moritz to Sardinia, New York to New Zealand.
Geoff Sewell, co-founder and tenor in the world's first opera band, Amici Forever, set up BRAVO Amici in 2010. A successful international multi-Platinum recording artist in his own right, New Zealander Geoff has performed by request of the Queen at Royal Albert Hall, for Prince Charles at Windsor Castle, for Prince Albert in Monaco, and for Nelson Mandela. He's performed around the world for high profile sporting events and at private parties held by the likes of Victoria and David Beckham, and Sir Elton John. Geoff trained at The Boston Conservatory and is also a qualified chartered accountant, entrepreneur, and global CEO of entertainment company Incognito Artists, with offices in New York and London. A dedicated philanthropist, Geoff supports numerous charities, especially those involving autism and epilepsy, and set up The Sewell Foundation with his wife Simone for treating autism in his homeland of New Zealand.
Stunning British soprano Emily Estelle has enjoyed success both in the U.K. and internationally. A graduate from the prestigious Royal Northern College of Music in Britain, Emily has performed worldwide with opera groups Bella Fiori and Close Harmony, classical crossover all-female group Zyrah Rose, as well starring in operas including Carmen and Cosi Fan Tutti. Emily's impressive career has seen her perform in some of the U.K.'s most renowned venues including Wembley Stadium and Royal Albert Hall. She has performed with artists such as English tenor Russell Watson, with whom she starred on his "One Man Only" U.K. Tour, and recently with acclaimed opera singer Andrea Bocelli in St. Moritz, appearing there also as part of BRAVO Amici.
Travis Nesbitt grew up in California and is delighted to be back on the McCallum stage, having played the first male Peter Pan here when he was younger, flying through the air every night during his run. He credits his experience as the inspiration to move to New York and work on Broadway. He studied musical theatre at The Boston Conservatory. His credits include "The Springtime Tenor" in Mel Brooks' musical The Producers; a featured vocalist in The Radio City Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall; "Link Larkin" in Hairspray at The Cape Playhouse; "Fyedka" in Fiddler on the Roof; "Joseph" in Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat; and "Huck" in Big River. Travis is a three-time soloist with the Boston Pops, and has sung the national anthem for the Red Sox at Fenway Park.
Grace Field has had the privilege of performing in theatres all over the world. She trained at Rice University in Houston, Texas, earning a Bachelors Degree in Music Performance and is also an accomplished pianist. She has worked for renowned Broadway composers Stephen Schwartz and Steven Lutvak, along with Broadway stars Rebecca Luker, Seth Rudetsky and Anthony Rapp. Grace is currently a member of the prestigious Grammy Award nominated Broadway Choir "Broadway Inspirational Voices," including a Christmas 2018 performance on "The Today Show" with Hugh Jackman, and has also performed as a solo artist at The United Nations.
Jonathan Hawkins, born and bred in California, has built a successful career as a professional singer, actor and producer in New York City. He's performed in operas, musicals, concerts and soundtracks from Los Angeles to London. Jonathan is a versatile performer and sings everything from opera and musical theatre to pop and jazz. When he finished his training, his singing and acting career blossomed immediately. One of his most notable roles includes the infamous part of Tony in West Side Story and he's just finished playing the demon barber of Fleet Street inSweeney Todd.
