Palm Canyon Theatres “Elf” will definitely get you in the holiday spirit! Santa (David Brooks) brought Christmas cheer for all to hear! With his charming smile and stage presence, I almost believed in Santa again! If you’ve seen the movie “Elf”, you can expect this production to be just as hilariously charming!
Their lighting design (J.W Layne) was brilliant and highlighted by dazzling projections that brought the story to life. The direction by (Derik Shopinski) was not only telling but also introspective! The costumes (Derik Shopinski) were festive and looked comfy cozy!
I want to express admiration for Buddy the Elf himself (Scott Clinkscales) for being so charming and taking the character to a whole new level of fun! Scott had great comedic timing and took his time with his emotion as the story evolved. It was really fantastic to watch. Jovie (Jessica Lenz) was perfectly cast and she represents all of us who forget just how magical hope can be! Walter Hobbs (Eric Stein-Steele) deleivered a brillaint performance as he railed against this whole Christmas thing…. but in the end had a complete character turn around which showed his profound ability to reach his own depths.
I encourage everyone to go see this beautiful production and experience the joys of the holidays that Palm Canyon Theaters amply provides! They run until the 17th of this month! Run! Don’t walk!
