The McCallum Theatre and The City of Rancho Mirage present The Highwaymen - A Musical Tribute on Friday, January 13, at 8:00pm. Perhaps the greatest super group in country music history, the original Highwaymen, formed in 1985, consisted of Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash. This tribute (with Willie, Waylon and Johnny) to that amazing, never to be seen again, band continues the legacy. You will witness first-hand the friendship and comradery that existed between these legends, reliving one of the greatest moments in country music history. Combining their unique approaches to life and recording, they travel the world performing country music to millions of fans.

Michael Moore (as Willie Nelson) was born and raised in McKinney, Texas. His passion for Willie's music came at an early age. "I can remember hearing his music coming out of my grandmother's old AM radio." Even then, Michael knew there was something unique about Willie Nelson. That voice and unusual style of phrasing are hard to match. Through many years of study and about a million "Whiskey Rivers" later, Michael's ability to capture Willie's voice and style is considered by many to be the best in the world. Michael is also an accomplished guitar player and performs all of the guitar parts played by Willie in his shows. When asked what kind of music he likes, Michael says, "Everything from The Carpenters to Metallica." Michael has performed his Willie tribute show throughout the U.S. as a solo artist and also with several top tribute shows, including Cavalcade of Stars, Mirror Image, Memories Theatre and Superstars Live in Concert, a BC Entertainment, Inc. production.

Bob Gill (as Waylon Jennings) has been singing since early pre-school and has performed in one man band shows incorporating the use of floor bass, guitar and beat box to a six piece cover country band. He has performed in Nashville and other venues across North America attracting growing audiences along the way. He became interested in Waylon's music when he first heard him in the early 70s; since then, Bob has amassed a repertoire of most of the songs recorded by Waylon. During his travels, he increasingly became compared to Waylon in both appearance and vocal style. Since Waylon's untimely death in 2002, Bob has had a desire (and destiny) to focus exclusively on preserving Waylon's music. When you hear Bob sing Waylon's music and close your eyes, you are immediately positioned in the midst of fans at one of the late Waylon Jennings' concerts. Bob, like Waylon, sings with a style that comes from the soul and reflects both the joy and pain of a man who has experienced each.

Philip Bauer (as Johnny Cash) has a stage presence and vocal range that have been thrilling audiences for many years. Philip started his musical path in Minneapolis and began winning talent contests. In 1985, Philip won the Minnesota State Fair talent contest in a field of over 800 contestants and performed with a 40 piece orchestra every night of the 1986 State Fair. Throughout the 90s, Philip sang with cover bands, and in 1996, was asked to perform on the "Charlie Daniels Talent Round Up" on TNN. In 1997, at Johnnie Highs Country Music Revue, Philip earned standing ovations as the warm up act for LeAnn Rimes. Philip's original music has been played on over 300 radio stations across Europe. Selective Records marketed his songs to the European stations and listeners and station managers across Europe faxed enthusiastic reviews to the Nashville label. In 1998, Philip moved to Branson where he performed to capacity crowds at the Hard Luck Diner.
