Local performer, Kristi King, will perform her acclaimed one-woman tribute show "Everybody Loves Doris Day" on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 2 PM in the Arthur Newman Theater in Palm Desert. Joining Kristi is Dennis Michaels on piano. Tickets are $15 cash at the box office that opens at 1 PM.
"Everybody Loves Doris Day" will focus on Doris Day's life and career from the early days as a big band singer, radio and recording artist, film actress, and television star. It features some of her most recognizable songs performed by Kristi King. Ms. King, who has uncannily perfected both Doris' look and voice, has performed versions of her show numerous times here in the desert as well as throughout Southern California, Hawaii, Las Vegas, and more. Singing since the age of 9 years old, Kristi, who performs weekly at several desert night clubs, is a very versatile singer and actress with a variety of shows she has helped develop and performs including, Country Girls, The Great American Songbook - The First Ladies of Song, and By Special Request.
In addition, she is one of three ladies currently performing as The Sensational Jewels, who also perform different multi-themed shows. For this performance, Kristi will include additional instrumentation recorded live in a studio along with Dennis Michaels on piano, for a full orchestral effect, taking the audience's experience to an even higher level. Audience is encouraged to bring unopened wet or dry dog and cat food to be donated to Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter's Pet Food Bank.
