The Broadway classic opens with a semi-formal gala reception December 6th
It’s time to get all glammed up and enjoy a gala holiday celebration to celebrate the opening of the classic Broadway musical, “The Sound of Music” at Theatre 29!
The gala will feature heavy hors d’oeuvres inspired by the show from Chef Tristan Ross, a champagne toast and a signature cocktail. There will also be a live and silent auction for what will be the biggest fund-raiser of the year. The evening's dress will be Semi-Formal with a nod to Holiday Finery. The doors will open at 6:00pm for fun and frivolity, the curtain goes up at 7:00pm.
The Friday, December 6th opening night event is a special fundraiser for Theatre 29 with funds going to much-needed infrastructure and technical upgrades. Theatre 29 is in the midst of a major overhaul of lighting and sound systems as well as maintaining the building and facing a near doubling of utilities and royalties.
A tuneful, heartwarming story, “The Sound of Music” is based on the real-life story of the Von Trapp Family Singers, one of the world's best-known concert groups preceding World War II. Analisa Pilecki, who won a DTL for “Outstanding Actress in a Musical” for last years, “Man of La Mancha” plays the role of Maria, the tomboyish postulant at an Austrian abbey who becomes a governess in the home of a widowed naval captain with seven children and brings a new love of life and music into the home. based on the Tony Award-winning musical, Academy Award-winning film, and featuring memorable classic songs: “My Favorite Things”, “Do-Re-Mi”, “Sixteen Going on Seventeen”, “So Long, Farewell”, and more.
Tickets for the opening night fund-raising gala only are $50.00 and are available online at theatre29.org or by calling the Theatre 29 box Office at 760-361-4151. After the Gala, tickets are $20.00 for Regular admission, $17.50 for Seniors and Military, and $15.00 for children under 12 and Students with ID, with no service charge.
