Desert Ensemble Theatre Company Presents THE THESPIAN RADIO HOUR ImageTickets are now on sale for Desert Ensemble Theatre Company's world premiere production of The Thespian Radio Hour, written and directed by DETC's in-house, award-winning playwright Tony Padilla. The Thespian Radio Hour is a light-hearted romp set in the 1940s against the backdrop of a Chicago radio soap opera on the verge of cancellation. Just how far will the team go to procure a new sponsor and stay on the air?

The play runs two weekends, March 9-11 and March 16-18, at the Pearl McManus Theater in the Palm Springs Woman's Club, 314 S. Cahuilla Road. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased in advance through the company's website, www.detctheatre.org, or by calling (760) 565-2476.

The prolific Padilla was the Desert Theatre League's 2014 recipient of the Bill Groves Award for Outstanding Original Writing (Becoming Ava), and the 2016 recipient of the DTL Joan Woodbury Mitchell Award for motivation in Desert theatre. The playwright states: "This play is pure entertainment intended to lift your spirits, make you forget your troubles and make you laugh out loud."

The cast from DETC's core company includes Bonnie Gilgallon, Kelley Moody and Nick Wass. Linda Cooke, Hal O'Connell and Larry Dyekman make DETC debuts during a season when the company is growing in size and stature. DETC was recently voted "Best Repertory Company" in the Desert Sun's 2018 Best of the Valley reader's poll and in January received 12 Broadway World Awards, Palm Springs Region. The company also won 19 Desert Star Awards from the Desert Theatre League for productions during the past two seasons, underscoring its growing accomplishments since its founding in 2011.
