CVRep to Ring in the Holidays with Special Events

As part of The Coachella Valley Repertory Theatre's (CVRep) commitment to presenting high-quality live theatre and entertainment throughout the year, during the month of December 2017, CVRep will ring in the holiday season by offering several musical and theatrical events.

"The holiday season is a time for celebration and during the entire month of December, 2017 CVRep is going all out to make the season bright and cheerful with extraordinary musical and theatrical entertainment," says CVRep Artistic Director, Ron Celona. "Although CVRep has an exciting lineup of plays and musicals to be presented throughout our 2017-18 season, we wanted to offer our patrons something fresh and fun this December to help get them into the holiday spirit."


· TUESDAY, DECEMBER 5, 2017 7PM: JOY: THE CHRISTMAS CONCERT with JAZZ MUSICIAN SCOTT WILKIE and FRIENDS.

Best-selling contemporary jazz pianist Scott Wilkie gathered his favorite musicians to create the live-in-studio album Joy, released for Christmas 2015. His creative arrangements of holiday classics are driven by the unique energy of the full band recorded live together in the studio. To celebrate the release, the band has performed to a sold-out crowd at Spaghettini in Seal Beach, California, every year since. This year, they bring their show live to the Coachella Valley Repertory Theater on Tuesday, December 5. The band features Scott Wilkie on piano, Pat Kelley on guitar, Nathan Brown on bass, Monette Marino on percussion, and Jeff Olson on drums.

· FRIDAY, SATURDAY and SUNDAY, DECEMBER 8, 9 and 10 (8th and 9th at
7 PM and Sunday the 10th at 2PM: THE LIFE and TIMES OF A. EINSTEIN - a solo performance play starring actress/playwright Kres Mersky.

By overwhelming demand, Kres Mersky will bring her solo show back to CVRep. Directed by Paul Gersten, The Life and Times of A. Einstein is an offbeat comedy about a day in the life of the great scientist as seen through the eyes of his longtime "secretary/watchdog." The play features one character on stage, and that character is not Albert Einstein. It is rather Ellen Shoenhammer, his secretary, portrayed by playwright/performer Kres Mersky. Ellen, is more than Mr. Einstein's secretary. She is his chauffeur, his bodyguard, and a liaison to the media, protecting his public image from scandal, and generally managing all of his business affairs.

· FRIDAY, SATURDAY and SUNDAY, DECEMBER 15, 16 and 17 - (15th and 16th at 7 PM and Sunday the 17th at 2 PM) Janene Lovullo with Christopher Marlowe Present TOO MARVELOUS FOR WORDS - Celebrating Johnny Mercer and Harold Arlen with a Little Bit of Christmas.

CVRep welcomes back songstress Janene Lovullo following her stellar performance in the musical revue, Laughter, Love and Lunacy. "Our show is really about the Mercer/Arlen Songbook - their iconic songs which make up part of the Great American Songbook - Anyplace I Hang My Hat is Home, That Old Black Magic, One for My Baby, and Come Rain or Come Shine," says Ms. Lovullo. Accompanied by Musical Director Christopher Marlowe, Janene will help ring in the holiday season with a few holiday tunes.


THE SCOTT WILKIIE HOLIDAY SHOW will be presented on TUESDAY, DECEMBER 5, 2017 7PM. Tickets: $30

THE LIFE and TIMES OF A. EINSTEIN will be presented on FRIDAY, DECEMBER 8THand SATURDAY, DECEMBER 9 at 7PM and SUNDAY, DECEMBER 10th at 2 PM Tickets: $30

Janene Lovullo and Christopher Marlowe'S TOO MARVELOUS FOR WORDS PLUS A LITTLE BIT OF CHRISTMAS will be presented on FRIDAY, DECEMBER 15 and SATURDAY, DECEMBER 16 at 7 PM and SUNDAY, DECEMBER 17 at 2 PM. Tickets: $30
