Hitchcock has never been funnier! This summer, Desert Theatreworks is presenting a stage adaptation of Hitchcock's film classic, The 39 Steps, but the suspenseful drama becomes a side-splitting comedy when the entire story involving dozens of characters is presented with only four actors, a handful of chairs, and couple of boxes. The mix of melodrama, action and lots of quick-change costuming all takes place in just 100 minutes. The results are hilarious!
In this fast-paced and funny whodunit, a man is accused of a murder he didn't commit, so he flees from the authorities and embarks on a string of hair-raising adventures -- as well as an unlikely romance. Don't miss the hilarious fun when The 39 Steps comes to DTW this summer.
Desert Theatreworks Artistic Director, Lance Phillips-Martinez, says, "The 39 Steps is the perfect cure for the summertime heat. Part suspense, part slap-stick comedy, this show has it all and will showcase the talents of four of DTW's finest performers." Most of the valley's theatre companies close for the summer, so this is a great opportunity to share laughs with friends and family in an airconditioned theatre!
The 39 Steps will be presented at the Indio Performing Arts Center from June 22 to July 1. Tickets and performance times are available at www.dtworks.org. For more information, please contact Desert Theatreworks at 760-980-1455 or email at info@dtworks.org.
Desert Theatreworks has also announced their 2018-19 season. Details and season tickets are available at their website. All seats are reserved, and early bookers will get the best seating locations!
