JIM BORAX'S CALIFORNIA CABARET will perform a free concert at the Rancho Mirage Library & Observatory on Saturday, April 27, 2019, from 2 to 3 p.m Its singers and dancers will perform selections from the Great American Songbook, including numbers from such shows as CHICAGO, MY FAIR LADY, and CABARET. Additionally, the program features beloved classics like Mack The Knife, Fly Me to The Moon, The Lady is a Tramp, and even Puccini's Nessun Dorma.
Mr. Borax, the group's producer and founder, who serves as emcee and participates in the singalongs and other full-group numbers, told me that, after he retired from a successful, 42-year career in commercial real estate, his wife, Sheri, suggested he look for something new to occupy his time. He proceeded to create a show.
California Cabaret has performed at numerous Southern California venues and has been featured on CBS and CNN, as well as in the Los Angeles Times. . When I reviewed the show for Broadway World last fall, I called it "a hidden gem that I hope more people get to see." /palm-springs/article/BWW-Review-JIM-BORAXS-CALIFORNIA-CABARET-is-a-Gem-20181022.
