Palm Canyon Theatre is preparing their 25th Annual Kids Camp and it couldn't come at a more welcome time! With Riverside County schools being limited to online classes for over a year, not only will the students receive theatrical training - they will also have a chance to interact with live teachers and other students!

The six-week theatre training camp begins on June 14 and runs through July 24. Children 6 to 17 are grouped by age and attend six classes a day including singing, dancing, improv, stage combat, makeup, and stagecraft, plus plenty of camaraderie. The program culminates with a production which will be presented July 23 and 24 on the mainstage of Palm Canyon Theatre, 538 N. Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, CA. This year's production has not been selected yet, but past productions include such whimsical titles as "Sinisterella," and "Who Was That Masked Guy, Anyway?" Every child who completes the course will be involved with the production.

The Camp features 12 accredited teachers plus six guest artists who will provide master classes in their fields. Classes run Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. As an accommodation to working parents, early drop-off and late pick-up can be arranged. Camp runs $150 a week, though arrangements can be made if needed. Registration packets are available at www.PalmCanyonTheatre.org, by phoning 760-323-5123, or by dropping by the theatre. All classes and performances will be in accordance with CDC and California State Guidelines.

In addition to training in the summer Kids Camp program, Palm Canyon Theatre endeavors to let youthful actors join in on some of their main season productions, giving them experience alongside experienced adult performers. Many of the students have grown through annual attendance at Kids Camp and performing in PCT's major productions, and as a result, have demonstrated their experience and training at COD, other colleges, and even professionally.
