TITANIC: THE MUSICAL, with a book by Peter Stone, music & lyrics by Maury Yeston is set to play from June 1-10, 2012 at the Centrepointe Theatre, Ottawa.

The production team includes Artistic Director Debbie Miller, Musical Director Paul Legault and Choreographer &Assistant Director Valerie Keenleyside.

Ninety-nine years ago, the RMS Titanic sank on her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York, taking over 1,500 souls with her. Orpheus will mark the 100th anniversary of this legendary event with our production of Titanic: The Musical in spring 2012. This award-winning musical (unrelated to the James Cameron movie) by Maury Yeston and Peter Stone is based on real passengers and events. Titanic premiered on Broadway on April 23, 1997, at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, where it ran for 26 previews and 804 performances.

Titanic: The Musical won five Tony Awards - for Best Musical, Best Book, Best Original Score, Best Scenic Design and Best Orchestration - and a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Orchestration along the way. It has since been performed throughout North America, the UK and in Australia; and translated for successful productions in France, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Holland and Japan. The running time of the show (including intermission) is approximately two hours and 30 minutes. From the moment she struck the iceberg at 11:40 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, 1912, it took the "unsinkable" ship only two hours and 40 minutes to disappear beneath the calm, but near-freezing North Atlantic.

Auditions will take place from February 28th-March 4th, with casting to be announced at a later date.
