Joël Beddows (Artistic Director, Théâtre français de Toronto) and Lawrence Aronovitch (2012-13 Playwright in Residence at the Great Canadian Theatre Company), return to Ottawa - after having recently decamped to Toronto - with their first theatrical collaboration since the award-winning production of The Lavender Railroad (Prix Rideau Awards for Best Director, Best Design, and Outstanding Performance, Female). BroadwayWorld has a sneak peek at the cast in action below!
Come back with Bear & Co. to 1972, when being out of the closet can get you jailed. But inside a Jewish tailor's shop, all secrets are on the measuring table, as the tailor puts the finishing touches on a morning suit. Eavesdrop with us as he remembers and mourns the two great loves of his life: a young, brash Irish actor and an enigmatic, battle-weary duke.
Finishing the Suit premieres at The Gladstone Theatre, Ottawa's home for independent theatre, from March 2-11, 2017 (preview March 1). Written by Aronovitch and directed by Beddows, the production features a mix of actors from Ottawa and Toronto: Matt Pilipiak (Three Men in a Boat), Isaac Giles (The Madwoman of Chaillot, Stratford Festival 2017), and David Whiteley (The Norman Conquests). Designing the show are Ivo Valentik (set), Angela Haché (costumes), AL Connors (sound), and David Magladry (lighting).
