Work by Ireland's Maeve Binchy has on many occasions been adapted for film, tv and radio. Her wickedly funny and equally moving novel Minding Frankie is her first to be adapted for the stage. It is a very new adaptation, having received its world première in Dublin earlier in 2018 from Breda Cashe Productions. SevenThirty Productions feels privileged to be permitted, in association with the original producer, to present this singularly entertaining play in Ottawa before it will surely be seen in major venues throughout the world.
Follow Maeve's hero Noel , a middle-aged Irish alcoholic and single parent as he tries to raise his baby girl Frankie while good-thinking but equally stubborn social worker Moira does all in her power to make his life as difficult as she can.
"It takes a village to raise a child. Or a street!" says Noel. "I intend to be the best mother I can be."
