Great Canadian Theatre Company, CKCU-FM, and CHUO-FM proudly present FemmeVox, a series of concerts and artist-led workshops celebrating established and emerging female or female-identifying talent, and promoting mentorship among its artists. "CHUO and CKCU are what I like to call sister stations in the Ottawa community" says Anne-Marie Brugger, host/producer of the CHUO show Hop The Fence and FemmeVox organizer. "When we join forces together on a project such as FemmeVox, it is to everyone's best interest: our listeners, our stations and most of all, to our artists who gain valuable exposure through our channels."
The series kicks off on Sunday, November 25th at 4 pm with award-winning Canadian music legend Lynn Miles, and local music luminaries Megan Jerome, Tara Holloway, and Julie Corrigan. "Providing opportunities to emerging artists alongside established, talented artists is a core value of GCTC" says GCTC Managing Director Hugh Neilson. "We are so pleased, not only to be bringing back the music series component of our programming, but to be the catalyst for opportunities in Ottawa. Pairing emerging, female, singer songwriters with such great, established talent will benefit everyone."
At 1:30 pm, Lynn leads an interactive workshop (facilitated by Megan Jerome) to discuss the craft of songwriting, her process, mentorship, and working with her mentee, Julie Corrigan. Learn techniques and tips from one of Canada's most beloved and storied songwriters.
