Three witches lure Macbeth to a clandestine crown. Shakespeare's tale of Scottish savageries from 400 years earlier blends life at the knife edge with surprising tenderness. Twelfth-Century Scotland is the world of Outlander, where decisions reek more of Game of Thrones than of the court of St. James. Adapted from Bear & Co.'s July 2016 outdoor touring production, here is a love story with appalling consequences, presented in a fast paced re-telling. This is theatre magic. Let it come down.
The ensemble includes Chris McLeod as Macbeth, Doreen Taylor-Claxton as his Lady, and Rachel Eugster as Banquo. Chris and Doreen led the cast of Bear's parks production of The Tempest last summer, while Rachel recently starred in Bear's "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" at The Gladstone. Daniel Claxton debuts as Malcolm, and fire dancer Zoe Georgaras (Moon Ballad Circus), Alexis Scott (co-founder, Vacant House Theatre), and Sarah Waisvisz (creator/performer, Monstrous) round out the company. Eleanor Crowder (Monstrous, 'Tis Pity She's a Whore) directs.
