Join the largest community orchestra in the country – and a few special guests – as we sweep you off your feet at one of our most stylish and fun concerts of the year!
Since the early 20th century, the classical sound of orchestras and the vibrant colors of jazz have influenced one another, evolving and elevating both genres. Gershwin and his contemporaries learned from the early masters of swing to create some of the most compelling instrumental works of all time, and the big band era continued to push popular music in a whole new direction. This June, the CFCArts Symphony Orchestra will merge these styles even more by performing some of the greatest swing and big band hits as well as help you feel the joy and power of works like Rhapsody in Blue.
You don’t want to miss this joyous concert that weaves together the timeless classics of Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, and Louis Armstrong with the symphonic stylings of George Gershwin, the contagious rhythms of Dave Brubek, and the unforgettable songs of Irving Berlin! When performed by over 200 musicians, you’ll experience this music as you’ve never heard it before.
