Last of the Fathers* offers a unique opportunity to witness the story of James Madison, the fourth President of the United States, as he reflects on his pivotal role in the birth of the nation. The show delves into his thoughts on the Constitution, his partnership with Thomas Jefferson, and his enduring influence on American democracy.

Audiences will be transported back to the late 18th century, as Madison shares his insights on the challenges and triumphs of shaping a new nation. This performance is not just a history lesson; it is an engaging and intimate portrayal of the man often referred to as the “Father of the Constitution.”  It will also address current issues in the often asked question, “What would a Founding Father say about the Nation if he were to return today?”

Cast

Lou Magill

James Madison
Lou Magill is a 35 year veteran of the stage from his first role as Dr. Witherspoon in Arsenic and Old Lace in 1964 to becoming a professional opera singer performing seven seasons with the Orlando Opera Company. Retired from the stage in 1998 after performing in Verdi's Falstaff, Lou has decided to return to the stage with his most ambitious challenge ever... becoming James Madison. After two years of study and research, "Last of the Fathers - James Madison Returns" in a one-man performance was born. Lou says that each time he appears as James Madison he has four objectives... Entertain, Inform, Educate and Inspire. At the end of the performance, "I want everyone eager to grab a quill and sign the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution themselves."
