Based on The Countess of Pembrokes Arcadia by Sir Philip Sidney, Head Over Heels is the comical story of what happens when the royal family of Arcadia journeys to save their kingdoms beat, the divine power that ensures the kingdoms prosperity, when it is threatened by a prophecy from the Oracle of Delphi. When King Basilius, whose own crown is at stake, forces the royal family and court on a caravan through the woods, hilarity ensues as they attempt to escape the Oracles seemingly unavoidable prophecies. As a modern musical fairy tale with plots involving usurped kings, unlikely lovers, and gender-fluid disguises, Head Over Heels advocates unconditional love and acceptance of yourself and others, no matter their gender or sexual identity. As an advocate for inclusion of all, Encore Performing Arts is partnering with One Orlando Alliance to support LGBTQ+ nonprofit organizations that foster collaboration and community in the Central Florida area. A portion of the proceeds from Encores performances of Head Over Heels will be donated to One Orlando Alliance to help continue the organizations vision to create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive community for all LGBTQ+ people.
