From My Hometown: A Celebration of the American Dream in Classic R&B is a Southeastern regional premiere that tells the story of three young men arriving in New York City, each from a different hometown known for producing hit records. Set against the backdrop of the iconic Apollo Theatre, this musical captures the essence of 60s and 70s R&B through twenty-four classic soul songs from legendary artists such as James Brown and Otis Redding. Conceived by Lee Summers, with a book co-written by Summers, Ty Stephens, and Herbert Rawlings, Jr., the production celebrates the pursuit of the American Dream intertwined with the rich legacy of Rhythm and Blues.
