A beautiful modern-day fairy tale, Sarah Ruhl sprinkles a bit of magic throughout this serio-comic romance. Forever musing over the creation of “the perfect joke,” Brazilian immigrant, Matilde, works as a cleaning lady for two married doctors. Their melodic life is interrupted when the husband falls quickly and deeply in love with one of his cancer patients, claiming to have found his soul mate.
