Winter Park Playhouse Announces New 2025-2026 Season of Professional Musicals!

Next weekend, a star-studded cast takes the stage in Steinmetz Hall as Opera Orlando presents Massenet's Cendrillon, a sumptuous French retelling of the classic Cinderella story. Soprano Lindsay Ohse returns to the Company as the classic heroine Cinderella, having last sung Gilda in the 2021-22 season production of Rigoletto, which was the first opera to be produced in Steinmetz Hall.

The Winter Park Playhouse features professional vocalist Rachel Hope Ihasz on the cabaret stage to perform her debut solo cabaret - An Ode To The Classics  - in the theatre's popular Spotlight Cabaret Series, February 26 and 27, 2025. Playhouse Music Director, Christopher Leavy, will accompany on piano. 

The Little Theatre of New Smyrna Beach has announced the opening of the uproarious musical comedy Little Shop of Horrors, which will run for three weekends beginning January 30th, 2025, through February 16th, 2025.

Silly stories like this work better on stage, where the particulars of the real world aren’t around to underscore implausibility. It’s quite a setup: 20-year-old bride-to-be Sophie has never known a father, but by the time the prologue is over, she has already swiped her mom’s diary, identified three old flames as the could-be dad, invited each of them to a remote Greek island for her upcoming wedding, and concocted an elaborate rouse to keep all of this from her betrothed, her mother, the men, and her mom’s two best friends. The objective: lay eyes on each potential pop for a “vibes check” in hopes of finally IDing her dad.

Kicking off the new year, The Winter Park Playhouse will pay tribute to the sun, fun and music of the 1960's Boardwalk with their professional production of The Bikinis.

In the realm of musical theatre, jukebox musicals have their supporters and their detractors. People who are already fans of an artist or group whose music forms the score of such shows are already pre-programmed to like a production due to their familiarity with and affinity for the music used in the musical. Conversely, musical purists sometimes frown upon these types of shows due to the lack of an original score. However, there are certain musicals in this genre that find the perfect balance, appealing to all theatergoers and thus, often becoming major hits. This is definitely the case with JERSEY BOYS, the 2005 Tony Award-winning musical which tells the story of the formation, success, and breakup of the hit group, The Four Seasons, led by the iconic voice of Frankie Valli. So, I am excited to report that Titusville Playhouse is currently delivering (through February 23rd) an outstanding production of this fan favorite musical, giving audiences a production of JERSEY BOYS that is fast-paced, thrilling and certain to excite and delight both fans and newcomers.
