Argosy Productions and Shine Performing Arts in partnership with Valencia College are joining forces to produce and present the musical stage work Requiem for a Young Man on Thursday, May 10 at 7:30 PM and Friday, May 11 at 7:30 PM at Valencia Community College, East Campus, Performing Arts Center.

Requiem for a Young Man is a multi-genre creation which combines elements of opera, oratorio, ballet, and musical theatre into a memorable stage production. This work will engage audiences of diverse backgrounds and ages as they follow the journey of a young man who falls in love, answers his country’s call to serve, and leaves family and friends to fight on a foreign field. Imagine a unique stage experience presented by professional singers, experienced actors, talented dancers, and a community-based chorus accompanied by a live orchestra.

The creative team behind Requiem for a Young Man includes composer and producer Ronald Owen, director John K. Brown, and choreographer Cuic Suarez. All three men have been active in the Central Florida artistic scene for a number of years.

“I am privileged to work with so many talented and committed individuals from various areas within the greater Orlando area on a project that honors our servicemen and women, veterans, and fallen warriors,” said Ronald Owen, Composer and Producer.

“The goal of Shine Performing and Creative Arts is to bring the arts to the community by engaging urban youth in opportunities to sing, dance act and create,” said Michael Kimbrough, Founder and CEO, Shine Performing Arts

Requiem for a Young Man is a community-based production designed to bring together a diverse group of Americans from various cultural backgrounds, including individuals, businesses, corporations, civic organizations, and churches.
