Local actor Sean Philippe will be making his stage debut alongside the theater's resident ensemble cast members Allan Whitehead, Marco DiGeorge and Zack Roundy in Tracy Letts' 2008 comedy-drama Superior Donuts. The nine-person ensemble also features Cecilia Gazzara, Mark Kelly, Robb Maus, Nelia Lake and Anthony Belevtsov. Directed by Pam Harbaugh, Superior Donuts will run from June 9, 2017 to July 2, 2017 at Theater On The Edge.
The world premiere of Superior Donuts was staged by the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago in 2008, and it premiered on Broadway in 2009. Recently, Superior Donuts was adapted into an American sitcom for CBS, starring Judd Hirsch, Jermaine Fowler, and Katey Sagal.
Arthur Przybyszewski (Allan Whitehead) owns a decrepit donut shop in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago. Franco Wicks (Sean Philippe), a black teenager who is his only employee, wants to change the shop for the better. Superior Donuts, by Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Tracy Letts, explores the challenges of embracing the past and the redemptive power of friendship.
Theater On The Edge is known for its hyper-realistic set design and in-depth performances, and received must acclaim for its previous two productions, David Mamet's American Buffalo and Stephen Belber's TAPE.
Sean Philippe says, "Working with TOTE is the most intense experience I've ever had with the greatest rewards. I'm proud to be part of one of Orlando's best theaters."
Allan Whitehead says, "This show is everything and a bag of donuts. It's a roller coaster of humor and emotion and watching our team grow and evolve through this process has been incredibly rewarding!"
Pam Harbaugh, whose recent work includes directing Seminar and Venus in Fur at the Henegar Center in Melbourne, FL, and most recently American Buffalo and TAPE at Theater On The Edge says, "This play comes at a very interesting time in our country's history. It is a glimpse of diversity. It is a comedy at heart which provokes laughs and provokes deeper conversation. It encourages us all to look honestly at what it means to be an American."

CAST & CREATIVES BIOGRAPHIES
ALLAN WHITEHEAD is an ensemble member at Theater On The Edge and is a happy man. This is his second show at TOTE, also appearing as Don in American Buffalo in fall 2016. He loves this theatre and is humbled to be working with such a dedicated group of artists and friends. He would like to thank the cast, crew and creative team for their tireless efforts. He would also like to thank his family, especially Maria, for their unwavering support of this later-in-life endeavor. He would like to thank all veterans for their service and to thank YOU for supporting Theater On The Edge.
SEAN PHILIPPE is a comedian and actor born and raised in Florida. His career started with standup comedy, which eventually led him to acting, much like most of his comedic influences. He knew from the second he read Superior Donuts that the role of Franco was a perfect fit for him and has really enjoyed being a part of this cast. Sean says enthusiastically, "I'd like to thank all my friends, family, and fans for continuing to believe in me through this journey. With Peace love and positivity anything is possible!"
PAM HARBAUGH studied acting at the Lee Strasberg Acting Institute in NYC. She received her degree in theater from UCF. A member of the American Theatre Critics Association, she writes for BrevardCulture.com and FloridaTheatreOnStage.com and has also participated in an American Theatre magazine "Offscript" podcast. Recent directing work includes Seminar and Venus in Fur at the Henegar Center in Melbourne, Florida. Her original play, Snowfall, was produced last year for the Henegar's New Works Festival. Pam restaged Venus in Fur for Theater On The Edge in spring 2016, and most recently directed American Buffalo in fall 2016, and TAPE in winter 2017.
SAMANTHA DIGEORGE has a deep love for creativity and design, and this has propelled her into her new passion as Artistic Designer for Theater On The Edge, where she is also one of the founding members. Sam has a passion for transforming and repurposing anything and everything artistic that she can get her hands on, and she received much acclaim for her hyper-realistic junk shop set she created for American Buffalo and her seedy motel room set she created for TAPE. She is grateful to be a part of such a creative team and working alongside her husband Marco. In addition, Sam also works for Truthful Acting Studios as Director of Operations, where she takes care of all business operations.
