The Orlando Repertory Theatre (The REP) and G-Team, the philanthropic arm of Groupon, announce the launch of a local campaign to support The REP's No Empty Bus program. A $9 donation enables an under-served student to be exposed to live theatre.
The REP is the first arts organization in Central Florida to launch such a campaign. By following the link http://www.groupon.com/deals/gt-orlando-repertory-theatre, patrons are able to visit The REP's G-Team campaign page and make a contribution to support the No Empty Bus Program. Once 30 people donate $9 each, raising $270, The REP funds a field trip for an underserved class of 30 students. Each additional $9 raised will fund a theater trip for another student. The campaign launches at Midnight on Tuesday, September 27 and lasts until 11:59pm Thursday evening.
Through its No Empty Bus program, The REP enables students from underserved or Title I schools in Central Florida to receive free or discounted tickets to The REP's professional productions along with full or partial fuel and bus subsidies. Students watch the actors bring stories to life on stage and discuss what they saw with the cast after the shows, allowing them to interact with the arts on a level that is not always possible in school. Access to performing arts helps students develop reading and language-arts skills, foster meaningful connections with professional adults, and learn basic social and theater etiquette skills. The REP also provides teachers resource guides to further engage their students with classroom activities that match Next Generation National Standards for Theater Education and Florida Sunshine State Standards.Videos
