At The Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre (BRIFT), on August 18th at 8 p.m., Master Actor Todd Vittum will debut his new improvisation troupe The Trolls.
Having had great success with the past three performance of Improv Live, Vittum decided to par down and refine his group to allow fans to see how a perfectly honed improv troupe is developed. The result is The Trolls... a group of ten actors with advanced skills who are able to “think fast” on their feet with often surprising results.
Vittum explained why he chose such an unusual name for his troupe of actors. “The Burt Reynolds Institute is presently housed in a building somewhat hidden by the Indiantown Road Bridge. We often refer to our actors as “The Under the Bridge Players.” Under a bridge is the favorite place for trolls to live, and our trolls do love ?living’ at BRIFT.”
Under Vittum’s excellent tutelage, the troupe’s “no scripts – no rules” approach is sure to be a big winner with the audience. The spontaneity of response – unguarded and unfiltered – is the stuff of legend. Vittum has taken this concept a step further, designing innovative scenarios that make imaginations come alive in humorous -- and unexpected ways.
In an interview about his training techniques, Vittum said, “Most people think improv is only about being funny. It isn’t. However with The Trolls, funny just happens!”
