The Abbey's brand new Monday Night Cabaret Series kicks off on September 8 at 8 p.m. with Rebecca Fisher's Sin. Play. Live. Joining Fisher - some of Orlando's biggest local stars will be taking the stage each week for spirited storytelling and live entertainment, including Andrea Canny, John Ryan and Eddie Cooper, Kevin Kelly and Jessica Hoehn.
Rebecca Fisher is back from a two year stint in New York City and she brings her one-woman show, Sin. Play. Live., to The Abbey for an exclusive, one-night only performance on September 8 at 8 p.m. Joining her at the piano is the Tony-nominated Broadway Producer and Musical Director Michael Moritz. Sin. Play. Live. debuted last fall at The Metropolitan Room in Chelsea, NYC, and reveals Fisher's show business road less traveled in an eclectic mix of song, story and parody. In Sin. Play. Live., Rebecca shares her lust for life, humor and the pursuit of passion.
On September 15 at 8 p.m., Kevin Kelly debuts Mood Swings with Kevin Kelly. A collection of quirky tunes, smooth standards and intoxicating blues notes, Mood Swings features accompaniment by the incomparable Christopher Levy on the piano.
Join Jessica Hoehn on September 22 at 8 p.m. for her first cabaret at The Abbey with Debutante Gall: Better Late Than Never. In line with her irreverent personality, Hoehn explores through song love, life and leisure with pipes that rival the best in Central Florida.
On September 29 at 8 p.m., local favorite Andrea Canny takes the stage in her brand new cabaret Good for You. As the title implies, Canny will debut new songs about doing things that are "good for you," as well as songs people have said would be "good for you" to sing, and last but certainly not least, exploring the snide "GOOD FOR YOU" that jealous people say between clenched teeth. Good For You features accompaniment on the piano by the talented John B. DeHaas.
Closing out the Monday Night Cabaret Series on October 14 at 8 p.m. is John Ryan & Eddie Cooper: Strange Bedfellows. Join veteran Orlando performer and playwright, John Ryan, and his real-life partner Eddie Cooper (making his cabaret debut), on a wild musical journey from Queens, NY through Quitman, Mississippi to Orlando, via the lights of Broadway, the Blues of the South and the roar of popular radio. This hilariously eclectic show explores the vastly different musical and cultural influences that made them the (crazy) men they are today. Strange Bedfellows features Orlando's favorite piano-playing, singing, composing and glam-rock multi-tasker, Tod Kimbro along for the ride.
Tickets to each cabaret show are $10 and can be purchased at www.TicketWeb.com.
