Surfside Players is proud to announce their events in September! First they will present the satirical farce, THE MUSICAL COMEDY MURDERS OF 1940, by John Bishop. The Westchester estate of a wealthy "angel" is the site of a backer's audition for a new show by the creative team responsible for a Broadway flop during which three chorus girls were murdered. The house is replete with sliding panels, secret passageways and a German maid who is apparently four different people. When the infamous "Stage Door Slasher" makes his reappearance and strikes again, bodies start to drop in plain sight, knives spring out of nowhere, masked figures drag their victims behind swiveling bookcases, and accusing fingers point in all directions. Contains moderate profanity. Presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc. Directed by Janet Rubin. (Note: Despite the title, this is a farce, not a musical.)

Performances are scheduled from September 14th through the 30th on the three weekends, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm, Sundays at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $18 for adults, $16 for seniors and active military, $13 for students. Call (321) 783-3127 for reservations, or go to www.surfsideplayers.com, because online ticketing is now available for any show in their season.

Season tickets purchased by Opening Weekend are good for any seven admissions instead of five -- choose any dates you like, even bring in several people as a group ticket! $100 for adults, $75 for seniors and students.

After the Opening Weekend are auditions for the extraordinary 1984 Tony-winning Broadway musical, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES. Based on the 1973 play by Jean Poiret (which also inspired the Robin Williams / Nathan Lane movie The Birdcage), with book by Harvey Fierstein and music and lyrics by Jerry Herman. Transvestite nightclub owners and performers Georges and Albin, two men partnered for better-or-worse, get a bit of both when Georges' son (from a one-night fling) announces his impending marriage to the daughter of a bigoted, right-wing politician. Georges reluctantly agrees to masquerade as "normal" when he meets the family of the bride-to-be. But Albin has other plans. Contains adult themes. Presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.

Directed by Jennifer Wolf, with musical direction by John Kurowski, and choreography by Michael Biggs. Audition nights are Sunday and Monday, September 16th - 17th, at 7:00 pm. There are leading roles for 7 men and 3 women of varying ages, plus up to 12 men and women as "Les Cagelles." Wear comfortable clothing and shoes for dancing. Applicants will be learning brief song and dance excerpts from the musical. Rehearsals are typically weekday evenings; Tech Week begins Sunday October 28th, and performances are Fridays - Sundays November 2nd - 18th.

Late registration is available (first come, first served) through Thursday September 20th for the Fall 2012 YOUTH PLAYERS program, which meets on Thursday afternoons through December 6th and is open to 2nd-7th graders, all of whom will be cast in the play performing Friday December 7th! Taught and directed by the wonderful Eva Knowles. Details are available at http://www.surfsideplayers.com/images/YouthPlayers/surfsideplayers_fall_2012_registration.pdf
