The Garden Theatre (160 West Plant Street) has announced its premier fundraising gala, Garden Encore! on Saturday, March 7, 2015 presented by Orlando Health. The gala's featured entertainment will be recording artist and Broadway star Sam Harris.
Garden Encore! serves a dual purpose as the annual fundraiser for the Garden Theatre, as well as an opportunity to announce the upcoming 2015-2016 Live Season to sponsors, donors, and special guests. This event satisfies a portion of the $420,000 annual fundraising goal for the non-profit organization whose mission is to enrich, engage and entertain through creative experiences.
Headlining the evening with an unforgettable performance will be Broadway star
Sam Harris, a multi-platinum recording artist with numerous Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations. Harris' illustrious career has run the gamut from singer and songwriter to actor on Broadway, film and television to writer, director, producer and now, author. After pulling a weekly audience of more than 25 million viewers and winning Star Search in its premiere season with his unforgettable rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Sam and his powerhouse pop, gospel and theater-influenced vocals have never looked back. He joins the Garden Theatre after a successful off-Broadway run of his recent memoir musical, Ham. Garden Encore! offers patrons the one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience
Sam Harris in the intimacy of the 299-seat Garden Theatre.
The evening will start with an elegant reception at the rooftop greenhouses of the adjacent Roper Garden Building, catered by alFresco, fresh Mediterranean cuisine. Guests will then be welcomed into the theatre for the 2015 - 2016 Season reveal, including an exciting glimpse of the Garden's new immersive digital experience that will enhance the live action classic Peter Pan coming to the Garden Theatre this May.
