Riverside Theatre for Kids, the educational arm of Riverside Theatre, presents the musical, James and the Giant Peach on April 27 & 28 and May 4 & 5, 2018.

Based on the classic children's book by Roald Dahl, the musical version of James and the Giant Peach tells the story of a young English orphan boy who discovers a magical potion when he is sent by his wicked aunts to cut down a fruit tree. The potion grows a gigantic, magical peach that rolls into the ocean and starts James on a wild and surreal cross-world adventure along seven magically-altered garden bugs he meets along the way.

"We are excited to be presenting this new musical for the first time on the Treasure Coast," says Kevin Quillinan, Riverside Theatre's Director of Education and one of the directors of this production. "It has a score written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, two newer music theatre composers. They also wrote A Christmas Story the Musical, which we just presented in December to sold out crowds. Their shows are fun for kids to perform, but also quite challenging to our students as it pushes their talents in new directions.

"One of our greatest joys as an organization is to see our students grow and prosper with challenging material. This is a unique show that allows our cast to work on storytelling, character building, and display a wide range of emotions."
