Mad Cow Theatre is delighted to announce the cast of Nick Payne's Constellations, an award-winning love story crossing time and space, which will take the Zehngebot-Stonerock stage Feb. 17, 2017 as the fifth production of Mad Cow Theatre's Season 20. Mad Cow is thrilled to bring this new piece to life after an enthusiastic response from audiences during its reading at the theatre's 2016 Science Play Festival.

Constellations has been aptly called "a love story with infinite possibilities." Marianne is a physicist. Roland keeps bees. Sparks ignite and they light out on the journey of relationship. Unless they don't. Or do...but differently. Love has many shades and manifestations--as does the play itself and the quantum multiverse theory that lies at the heart of Nick Payne's sophisticated, wise, and funny script.

The roles of Marianne and Roland will be played by Gemma Victoria Waldon and Brett Waldon. Gemma is a British actress and host based out of Orlando. She trained in NYC at the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Brett is is a recent graduate from the California Institute of the Arts where he received his MFA in performance. He has a BA in acting from the University of Nebraska, and has extensive training in improvisation, theatre, and puppetry.

Director Tony Simotes* (The God Game, Painting Churches) returns to Mad Cow to helm Constellations. Joining Simotes are some of his collaborators from Mad Cow's highly praised The God Game, including scenic designer Alex Wittenberg and lighting designer Eric Haugen.

The New York Times called Constellations "sexy. Sophisticated. Gorgeous. This story of parallel universes is universal in every sense of the word," and further observed, "Who knew that higher physics could be so sexy, so accessible-and so emotionally devastating?" The New Yorker acknowledged the play as "a singular astonishment."

Mad Cow Theatre's executive director MiTzi Maxwell said, "When Constellations was presented as a reading at last year's Science Play Festival, audiences loved it. Such an intriguing and delightful melding of romance and science. From that moment, we began a discussion of when and how we could give it a full production and to share it with a larger audience. Since we like to provide a special surprise in our season's TBA slot, this year's surprise is the Central Florida premiere of Constellations. We couldn't be more pleased!"
