Shakespeare's intriguing play gets a cosmic spin in Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF (Orlando Shakes) special production of The Winter's Tale performed by The Young Company (TYC). Get a sneak peek at last year's production below!
Following a four-week intensive summer camp, the troupe of high school performers will present their work on the Margeson Theater stage on Friday, July 7 and Saturday, July 8 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, July 9 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets ($10) may be purchased online at www.orlandoshakes.org, by phone at (407) 447-1700 ext. 1, or in person at the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center. Walk-up sales begin one hour before show time.
"From auditions to working with experienced designers, TYC is a unique introduction for young people to the world of professional theater," said Anne Hering, Director of Education at Orlando Shakes. "The Young Company's mythic interpretation on The Winter's Tale will move and inspire both parents and passionate Shakespeare fans."
In a fit of wild and unfounded jealousy, Leontes, the King of Sicily, convinces himself that his pregnant wife is carrying his best friend's child. The hilarious scandal that ensues teaches a valuable lesson about loss and redemption.
