Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF (Orlando Shakes) invites the Central Florida community to a free Open House and Movie Night in the Park on Saturday, August 19, 2017 to celebrate the beginning of their 29th Season. The family-friendly event is open to the public with ongoing activities from 2 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. inside the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center (812 E. Rollins Street) and on the lawn in Loch Haven Park (777 E Princeton Street). For further information, contact call (407) 447-1700 ext. 1, visit www.orlandoshakes.org/openhouse or stop by the Lowndes Shakespeare Center in person.

Open House activities include an open rehearsal of Orlando Shakes' production of Man of La Mancha, theater production demonstrations, story times with characters from the Theater's Children's Series shows, a props and costume museum, and more.

"Our Open House is an opportunity for the community to see the inner workings of a professional theater up close," said Melissa Mason Braillard, Director of Marketing Communications. "This year we've extended the event to allow guests to participate in activities throughout the afternoon, and then stay to enjoy local food trucks and a free screening of Shakespeare in Love."

Following the Open House, the Theater will host popular local food trucks from the Daily City's Food Truck Bazaar and present a free screening-in association with the Enzian Theater-of the Academy Award-winning film, Shakespeare in Love on the lawn in Loch Haven Park.

Orlando Shakes' 29th Season features a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, a Shakespearean epic, a madcap riff on a literary classic, critically acclaimed new works, an adaptation of a cinematic treasure, and stories ripped from the pages of today's most popular children's books. Tickets are available now online at www.orlandoshakes.org, by phone at (407) 447-1700 ext. 1, or in person at the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center (812 East Rollins Street).

Orlando Shakespeare Theater is supported by United Arts of Central Florida, host of OrlandoAtPlay.com and UAArtsEd.com. This project is sponsored in part by the Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs, the Florida Council on Arts and Culture, and the State of Florida.
