Mad Cow Theatre will present Tony Award winning The Light in the Piazza in The Harriet Theatre December 6, 2013 - January 5, 2014.

Set in Florence and Rome in 1953, The Light in the Piazza is the story of a young American tourist traveling with her mother who meets and falls for a young Italian. The mother opposes the affair for reasons that only gradually become apparent as the musical unfolds. Winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Original Score, music and lyrics are by Adam Guettel, the grandson of Richard Rodgers. The intricately classic score is the perfect complement to an Italian love story and is sure to be audience favorite. Based on a novella by ElizaBeth Spencer, The Light in the Piazza won six Tony Awards in 2005 and is perhaps the most celebrated score of the past decade.

The cast features Jennafer Newberry (The Orlando Cabaret Festival) as Clara, Laura Hodos (Sweeny Todd, The Music Man) as Margaret, Robert Johnston making his Mad Cow Thetre debut as Fabrizio, Stephan Jones (Sweeny Todd, Sunday in the Park with George, Next to Normal) as Signor Naccarelli, Kellie Cundiff making her Mad Cow debut as Franca, Mark EdWard Smith (Death of a Salesman,The Pitmen Painters) as Roy and Sara Catherine Barnes, Eric Bridges, Luis Gabriel Diaz, Aaron Goodwin, Hastings Henderson, Lara Larberg, Amanda Leakey, and Salvatore Vieira in the Ensemble.
