Mad Cow Theatre has announced the construction of its new facility, a 2-theatre complex opening to the public this Saturday at West Church Street in Downtown Orlando. This venue provides a permanent home for resident, professional theatre in Downtown Orlando.

OPENING EVENTS

Tuesday, October 2 at 12:00 Noon - Ribbon Cutting and Press Preview with Mayor Buddy Dyer

Saturday, October 6 at 5:30pm - Gala Opening with dinner at The Rusty Spoon, performance of SUNDAY IN THE Park with George, and cast party at Kres Chophouse. Public Event, tickets available at www.madcowtheatre.com or by calling 407.297.8788

Mad Cow currently hosts 12,000 – 15,000 patrons at over 200 performances and events annually. With an estimated economic impact of $1.2 Million each year in direct and event-related spending, Mad Cow and our patrons support an estimated 35.2 FTE jobs. Increased capacity in the new facility will foster a greater artistic and economic impact on the community.

Occupying approximately 8,800 sq ft on the second floor of 54 West Church Street, Mad Cow’s new facility features two theatres, a spacious lobby and wine bar, stellar views of Church Street, raked seating risers creating excellent sightlines, and comfortable modern seating, all just steps away from exciting dining and nightlife options and the Church Street SunRail station.

The theatre is increasing Mad Cow’s audience capacity while retaining its intimate theatre experience. The Harriett Theatre will seat 168 patrons. The Black Box Theatre will seat up to 65 with rotating, flexible seating arrangements. Additionally, the complex includes facilities to provide Central Floridians and visitors to the region with nationally recognized theatre experiences that ignite the imagination, lift the spirit and engage our community. There’s nothing like it in Central Florida.

Individual philanthropists, foundations and corporations in addition to the City of Orlando and Orange County have made this possible. They believe that Orlando's success is tied directly to the nurturing and funding of the regional cultural scene. Key partners include City of Orlando, Orlando Downtown Development Board and Community Development Agency, Holland & Knight, and L2 Stuidos.

This new theatre becomes a symbol of our community’s investment in Mad Cow Theatre’s mission. It says that the conversations that we initiate in our city and the significant art that is being created here are meaningful to our citizens. It also says we value Orlando artists who create unique work that inspires us and we want to keep them gainfully employed in Central Florida.
