Mad Cow Theatre has received an Award of Excellence from the Downtown Orlando Partnership.
The DOP presented the 2013 Golden Brick Awards on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at The Mezz in downtown Orlando. Mad Cow Theatre won an Award of Excellence for its new theatre spaces at 54 West Church Street. The awards are given each year to projects that affect the Downtown Development District and contribute significantly to its quality of life, making Downtown Orlando a more exciting, interesting and desirable place to work, shop and live. 2012 NBA All-Star Weekend hosted by the Orlando Magic and George C. Young Federal Building & Courthouse were also recipients of The Award of Excellence.
The award recognized Mad Cow Theatre and project partners within Holland & Knight, L2 Studios and the City of Orlando Venues Office for their work on the theatre. Funding partners Harriett Lake, the City of Orlando and The Orange County Arts and Cultural Affairs were thanked for their support.
MiTzi Maxwell, Mad Cow Theatre's Executive Director, said, "We are thrilled to have our new home and the 54 West project team recognized with this award. This project has been nearly a decade in the making and there were many people involved in making it happen - the theatre couldn't be more grateful to each and every person who had a hand in creating our remarkable new theatre complex. Mad Cow has called Downtown Orlando home since the year 2000. We love our neighborhood and our neighbors and would like to congratulate all of today's Golden Brick Award winners!"
In the first six months of operating in this new theatre complex, Mad Cow has provided over 8,000 cultural experiences to the community through plays, musicals and artistic discussions. They have also hosted a number of community meetings and special events. This season, Mad Cow's audiences will create a projected $1.2 million in local economic impact in event-related spending.

Founded in 1961 as Downtown Orlando Council, Inc., The Downtown Orlando Partnership is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life and economic development of Downtown Orlando. They are a partnership of volunteers whose focus is to promote events, organization, people, leadership and excitement for downtown.
DOP membership is comprised of a wide variety of retailers, bankers, architects, developers, attorneys, accountants, investors and other professionals who have businesses in and/or do business in Downtown Orlando, or simply have an interest in the continued growth and excitement of Downtown.
