Mad Cow Theatre is thrilled to announce the cast and creative team of Lisa Kron and Jeanine Tesori's Tony Award-winning musical Fun Home, which will take the Harriett stage June 1, 2018 as the seventh production of Mad Cow Theatre's Season 21.

Fun Home captured the hearts and the minds of theatregoers when it opened at New York's Public Theater in 2013 and, after transferring to Broadway 18 months later, won five Tony Awards, including best musical, best book of a musical, and best score. Based on the graphic novel by Alison Bechdel, this enchanting show tells the semiautobiographical story of young Alison, who lives with her parents and two brothers in the family-owned funeral home (hence the title). The heart-wrenching and hilarious tale centers on Alison's embracing of her identity as a lesbian - three different actresses play Alison from age 10 to adulthood - and on her complicated relationship with her father, who has secrets of his own.

"Fun Home delicately weaves together a family's story into a heart-wrenching, innovative and charmingly honest musical," said Mitzi Maxwell, Mad Cow's executive director. "It speaks universally about big things that matter: life, love, family and surviving."

At Mad Cow, the role of Alison will be shared by 13-year-old Raina Danielle Grabowski as Small Alison, Emilie Scheetz (1776, Big River, It Was a Very Good Year) as Medium Alison and Sonia Roman* (Avenue Q) as Alison grown up. David Lowe (The Who's Tommy) will play Bruce, Alison's father, and Laura Hodos* (The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, 1776, The Light in the Piazza) will play Helen, Alison's mother. Completing the cast will be Jolie Hart (Circle Mirror Transformation), Ty Lowrey, Joshua Parrott, and Rhyse Silvestro.

Director Mark Edward Smith (Silent Sky, Big River, The Amish Project) returns to Mad Cow and is joined by scenic designer Robert F. Wolin** (The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, Born Yesterday, Fences), lighting designer Eric Craft (Three Sisters, Grounded, Born Yesterday) and costume designer Mollie LaTorre.
