Florida Studio Theatre's annual "Old Bags Luncheon" will be held Wednesday, April 1st 2009 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Goldstein Cabaret. All proceeds from this event will benefit the diverse programming offered throughout the year at Florida Studio Theatre.
This fun-filled afternoon begins with a silent and live auction of gently used, new and vintage handbags, ranging in style and graciously donated to Florida Studio Theatre. A delightful lunch follows, catered by Sundance Catering with a laugh-out-loud presentation of FSTs IMPROV troupe finishing out the afternoon. The "Bag Ladies and Baubles Luncheon" is co-chaired by Marie Kropp, Susan Morin and Nanci Rand. "Girlfriend, here is an opportunity to laugh, have fun, and buy pocketbooks. What could be better? In addition to a silent and live auction along with some fabulous food, Florida Studio Theatre Improv will entertain you and you will have a lighthearted fabulous afternoon," stated co-chair Susan Morin.
Reservations are required and can be made by contacting Phyllis Silverman, Assistant to the Managing Director, at 366.9017 ext. 314. The luncheon is $75.00 per guest.
Known as Sarasota's Contemporary Theatre, Florida Studio Theatre was founded in 1973 by Jon Spelman. Starting out as a small touring company, FST traveled to places such as migrant camps and prisons. The company eventually settled down into a permanent home, acquiring the former Woman's Club building - now renamed the Keating Theatre. In the years that followed, Florida Studio Theatre established itself as a major force in American Theatre, presenting contemporary theatre in its three theatre venues: the Keating Theatre, the Goldstein Cabaret and its newest space, the Gompertz Theatre.
Even with its growth, Florida Studio Theatre remains firmly committed to making the arts accessible and affordable to a broad-based audience. Under Richard Hopkins, Artistic Director and CEO, FST develops theatre that speaks to our living, evolving, and dynamically changing world. As FST grows and expands, it continues to provide audiences with challenging, contemporary drama and innovative programs.
